Ahh ha ha ha, Brilliant! Neil Young tried to cancel Joe Rogan but ended up ‘cancelling himself’
What did he think would happen?
“Ageing rocker” Neil Young tried to cancel Joe Rogan but ended up “cancelling himself,” according to Sky News host Rita Panahi.
The Canadian-American singer protested podcaster Joe Rogan’s presence on the popular streaming service Spotify, saying he would withdraw his music if Rogan remained on Spotify.
“This attempt to silence dissenting voices reveals an unlikely totalitarian streak in Neil Young,” Ms Panahi said.
Ms Panahi said Spotify's decision to pull Mr Young’s music from the streaming platform “is not a great surprise,” given Joe Rogan's audience dwarfs “not only most musicians but a number of mainstream media outlets in the US”.
“Neil is of course is free to criticise, mock or just ignore any content he doesn't like but trying to use his influence to deplatform Rogan was deplorable,” she said.
“And, in the end, he only succeeded in deplatforming himself from the world's biggest audio streaming service. What an own goal.”
