Napoleon Overthrows the Catholic Church in 1798 - The Way God Works (14 of 22)
In Daniel chapter 7 and Revelation chapter 12, what does the year A.D. 1798 mark? The 1260 years of the Dominion of the little horn power. In 1798, Napoleon, brought the church to its knees when he took the Pope captive and led him away into exile. This broke the authority of the Christian Church over Europe. And just a few years earlier, in 1776, what was happening across the big pond? God was raising up a new nation. The teachings of Christianity had become corrupt: it was teaching that salvation was a matter of works and not a matter of faith; and the Protestant Reformation, which began with Martin Luther nailing the 95 theses to the church door in Wittenberg in 1517, reached a climax during the French Revolution. And the French revolution is what ultimately broke the authority of the church over the political powers of Europe. This setting goes back to when Jesus opens the first seal and sends the rider throughout the earth on the White Horse. The mission is to spread the revelation that salvation comes through Jesus alone.
