⁣ah yes, 90s nu-metal.


As far as I know, only one nu-metal band ever recorded an album in regular tuning, and it’s the only album I’m aware of... which was “Adrenaline” by Deftones. (If you know any more let me know).


Otherwise, if you played nu-metal you at least down tuned to half-step down in Drop-D. The 90s exploded with bands who down tuned their guitars, especially when Korn implemented the 7-string. Now we see bands down tuning 8 and 9-string guitars that pretty much cross into bass guitar octave territory on the lowest strings, (Djent isn’t my thing, and 7-strings are enough for me).


I still consider New Wave of British Heavy Metal my favorite metal era, with an honorable mention going to Thrash and Black Metal.
