Palihapitiya was an early senior executive at Facebook, joining the company in 2007 and leaving in 2011.
In November 2017, Palihapitiya said that, for ethical reasons, he regretted helping Facebook to become the largest social media platform. He said:
"[t]he short-term, dopamine-driven feedback loops that we have created are destroying how society works: no civil discourse, no collaboration, misinformation, mistruth and it's not an American problem. This is not about Russian ads. This is a global problem. Facebooks algorithms are a threat to democracy. It is eroding the core foundations of how people behave by and between each other."

A 'tool' is to be used. I have only recently come on to so called 'social media' just to counter the crap produced by lamestream media. It suits these top paid executives now to get people off the platforms. People who may have an alternative view to the BBC in UK or CNN, FOX ETC IN US. My sense is that this guy talking here is disingenuous . The power is not in the platform or 'APP' but the real human being, who uses their own discernment.
Quit feeding the beast
We kind of knew is an oxymoron, what he really means is, he absolutely knew how human consciousness can be manipulated, he knows the second that this technology was given to us it would effect us all, he knows that this is not a future that we feared but a past we are already living. He talks about giving up so much, when all we need to do is turn off the parts that matter and ignore the ones that don't, its a drug and our minds produce the end product.
Is he saying it from the beasts point of view... as in, it helped people to wake up? I sense he is... And they are scared they cannot control it... And we see control coming in "from the beast", with a very heavy boot now don't we.
