This approach smacks of what the Germans call "schadenfreude," meaning to take delight in someone else's misfortune. Most of us have family members who are double-jabbed and boosted and according to some virologists and immunologists, their prospects are not particulary good if the Omicron variant adapts and becomes lethal. The Dutch virologist Geert Vanden Bossche has predicted a pandemic of the vaxxed this winter. This, I hasten to remind you, is not a civil war. True, there are many culpable agents at large who will need to be held to account but the victims are merely victims.
