Virus particles - measles; CoV - differ from other microorganisms like bacteria insofar as the virus is DNA or RNA encapsulated in protein, there is no nucleus nor organelles nor ability to reproduce in the absence of a host cell a.f.a.i.k.
Biologically, immunity cannot be transferred from one host to another. For as long as there are hosts without immunity in the population they too will be infected. Those hosts that are incapable of immunity will die. Immunity is transferred from mother to child via breast milk - cholostrum.

The panelists are describing the probabalities of a mathematical model. It would seem that herd immunity is nothing more than a dilution of the host population by inducing immunity thru' vaccinations.

Unless the severity of the CoV is somehow molecularly reduced, the severity remains. Tuberculosis, if contracted can kill those with compromised immune systems or questionable hygiene/health. CoV like measles and many other infecious diseases is no different. What about M. tetani or Staphylococus aureus K or E. coli etc. We share this World with many deadly organisms a great many exist in and on our bodies and in the soils/waters of the earth with which we are in almost regular contact.

I say again, immunity cannot be transmitted from one individual to another - so what is Herd Immunity really? A fancy phrase to instill a measure of goodwill and faith in receiving a vaccination that you probabaly don;t need nor want. imho.
